About us

We take time to build a relationship with our patients, starting with the first appointment. At your initial assessment visit, you will spend two hours withone of our board-certified neurologists discussing your health history and MS symptoms, and completing a full neurological assessment. We are proud to offer on-site MRI exams if needed, and guarantee that you will have zero wait time. At your follow-up appointment, or management visit, you will spend an hour and a half with your doctor discussing your exam results and building a comprehensive plan for your care. Your neurologist may also refer you to other members of our in-house, highly trained staff, including physical or occupational therapy, social work, naturopathy, and cognitive care. We welcome companions at your appointments, and take pride in giving patients as much time and attention as they need to feel secure in their treatment approach.

Empathy

We build patient-provider relationships on a foundation of personalization and understanding, because your care should be as unique as you are.

Excellence

We use an evidence-based, patient-centered approach that incorporates emerging research and the best available treatment options.

Service

From the moment you walk through our doors, serving you is our top priority. We handle all the logistics of your care to give you clarity and peace of mind.

I have a local neurologist. Do I need an MS specialist?

At the IMSMP, we treat the patient, not just the disease. We understand each patient has a different history, with individual symptoms and concerns. Our goal is to create a management plan geared specifically to every patient’s unique circumstances. Our three attending physicians have completed two-year fellowships under the direction and guidance of Dr. Saud A. Sadiq, and we truly encourage you to experience the difference for yourself! Patients benefit from the domain expertise, proximity to research, and the commitment our physicians have made to improving the quality of life for people with multiple sclerosis.

I don’t live in New York and it’s hard for me to travel. How often will I be seen at the office?

At the IMSMP, we understand the challenges our patients face in traveling to doctor’s appointments. Routine office visits with your physician may take place annually or semi-annually. If additional appointments are necessary, such as procedures or infusions, our administrative staff will work with you to accommodate your busy schedule. Patients traveling from out of town may also be given weekend appointments if they find it more convenient.

I was recently diagnosed with MS. Why should I come to the IMSMP?

Patients from all over the world come to the International Multiple Sclerosis Management Practice for the world’s best MS healthcare. We have established a comprehensive level of care for individualized, compassionate attention to patients’ needs rarely found in today’s healthcare environment. The close relationship of IMSMP to the Tisch MS Research Center of New York helps us test new treatments for MS and easily moves research discoveries into application. How do I get my prescription refilled?

If you need a refill, please call 212-265-8070 and ask the administrative staff member who answers the phone to transfer you to our dedicated prescription line. Please call before you are down to your last pill. If you need a prescription called on the same day, please call before 3PM. If you call after 3PM, we will call in your prescription on the next business day.

How should I prepare for an office visit with my doctor?

Keep a list with every medication you take, including prescription, over the counter, and alternative medications. Keep this list updated anytime you start or stop a medication or the dose changes. In between office visits, we encourage you to keep a running list of questions for the doctor, symptoms you experience, or problems you have. Some patients find it helpful to send a list of questions to their doctor about a week before their visit, so that they are aware ahead of time.

How can I contact my doctor between visits?

If you have a new symptom, call 212-265-8070  and ask to speak to a nurse. They have the fastest access to your doctor and will relay your question, then return your call within the same day.

If you would like to speak with your doctor directly, tell the nurse and they will make sure you are called by your provider that day or evening.

If you have a question about your treatment plan, want to change a medication, or have a broader question about your MS or treatment, you will need to have a more nuanced conversation with your doctor than a brief phone call can accomplish. Call a nurse, speak to them about it, and they will suggest that you either speak to your MD at your next visit or schedule phone consult with your doctor.
