Finding the Root Cause of MS
We are consistently working to fully characterize the B-cell antibody response to MS. Over 90% of people with MS have oligoclonal IgG antibodies in their CSF - this is important because in other neurological conditions where such antibodies occur, they are always directed at the cause of the illness. We hope that by finding a definitive cause, we can find a subsequent, trageted cure. To do this, we are building a "library" of cloned MS patient-derived CSF B-cells that help determine the immuodominant myelin protein and discover the trigger agent that initiates the disease.
